If you have a shelf where your spices are stored where the tops are the easiest visible spot, it can be a real pain finding the spices you want.

I solved this problem by labeling the tops of the bottles.

Spice Jar Labeling

This allows me to find my spices quickly.  It isn’t beautiful or fancy. I just used a sharpie marker. In some cases where the lid was black I added a strip of tape and wrote on that. I don’t personally see the point of having all matching nicely labeled spice jars. Most of my spices I get from a local store that sells them in bulk (which is MUCH cheaper ) so I just use a bottle I have available or use a container I had the spice or herb in previously.
