The kids have loved finding our springtime guests and I love seeing the world through their eyes. We have lots of little frogs and fascinating little critters.
I have had to ban the kids from holding and touching them without me. They don’t know how to be gentle yet. (There have been casualties. Poor creatures.)
We had this visitor the other day.
I was called with a “Mom! We found a GIGANTIC FROG!!” When I told them it was a regular size frog they had a hard time believing me. lol. All activity (included mowing the lawn) stopped and we watched him hop across the yard. We then put him on the path by the creek to save him from the mower.
The wonder, joy and fascination was wonderful to watch and be a part of.
Tonight we found a caterpillar. Abby loved it.
She loved it tickling up her arm.
I love seeing nature through their eyes. Without them I would miss so much more. I would just think. “Yeah, just another frog…caterpillar… hummingbird. ” With them I find their enthusiasm contagious.
As a busy Mom it is easy to get sucked into the “I need to…” list. But the mowing still got done and we had a frog to smile about during the rest of the job.
Don’t forget to see the wonder around you. And if you don’t have a child around to encourage that wonder just take time to smell those roses or play with that tickely caterpillar before that next job. It makes the next job so much more enjoyable.
Happy Explorations,
-The Frabjus Lady
